Each source line becomes a block span whose counter-fed ::before sits in a narrow left gutter; pseudo content never reaches the clipboard and user-select none keeps it that way, so copying the body still yields the exact source. Interior empty lines keep their height, a trailing newline adds no row, and soft-wrapped continuations align at the content column.
