The shared MarkdownText pipeline emits cosmetic newline text nodes
between blocks and after each <br>, designed to collapse under the
default white-space. The card's pre-line made every one of them
visible, so hard breaks rendered twice and block gaps stacked an
anonymous blank line on top of the paragraph margins.
