wizzy-yangandwizzy-yang 764bbfdad5 sessions, gui, tui, cli: the Sessions list is as long as the count beside it, and drawn in pages (#1019)
The Sessions page's list and its session count came from two different
lengths: the count is over every session (statsFor's Overview), while
GET /api/sessions fell back to sessions.Limit (200) when the page asked for
no number — and the page never asks for one. So the page said "238 sessions"
over a list of 200, and each agent whose sessions were oldest lost them
whole: Codex had 121 sessions here and the list showed 7, OpenCode 33 showed
2, ZCode 20 showed 3.

  * sessions.All (5000) is what a listing that means every session asks for,
    and the endpoint reads it when no number is asked of it; a caller that
    asks for one still gets it. It lives in internal/sessions so the page, the
    TUI and the CLI ask for the same number.
  * sessions.Limit stays 200 and is not raised: traceRecentFiles sizes the
    window gateway attribution is judged over by it (TraceSessionVisible
    decides whether a session has a readable local transcript), so raising it
    would change which calls count as magpie's.
  * The page draws that list in pages: SESS_PAGE (200) rows, and "Show N
    more" appends the next. A filter click or a keystroke in Search draws the
    first page and no more, so the cost does not grow with the history. The
    data stays complete, so the count and the list still agree. A list served
    4000 sessions long rebuilt every row on every keystroke — 275–320 ms a
    keystroke on a fast Mac with very small rows, worse on Windows — and now
    draws 200.
  * The note under the list counts the list the filters kept, not every
    session on the computer: it says "showing {drawn} of {n}" while pages are
    left and "{n} session"/"{n} sessions" once the whole list is drawn. Before
    it counted the whole history beside the drawn rows, so a search matching
    one session read "the list holds all 2600, 1 drawn" — as if 2599 were
    behind a "Show more" that isn't there. It also no longer says "drawn",
    which is how the page is built, not what a reader sees.
  * The CLI read sessions.List(0) — 200 — and then cut to its own --limit, so
    --limit 500 could never show more than 200 and the "%d more with --limit"
    foot was counted off the truncated list. It reads the whole set now; only
    o.limit rows are printed, so that costs a parse, not output.
  * The TUI read List(0) beside a head that says how many sessions there are,
    and then List(sessions.Limit+1) — 201, still not the whole set. It reads
    sessions.All now.

What the wider list costs is unchanged: every session file is read either way
to sort by last activity. Measured here with 384 sessions and 84.5k calls:
cold List(200) 10.3 s, List(5000) 10.5 s. What it adds is per-row work while
List holds the lock — a Codex session's titles stat, a pi session's omp
look-up, 25× the rows of JSON — hundreds of milliseconds, not seconds.

Tests, each failing without its change:
  * TestSessionsListIsAsLongAsTheCount (internal/gui): 205 Claude Code
    sessions as Claude Code keeps them; all 205 with no number asked, 5 with
    ?limit=5, 201 with ?limit=201. Fails with the list holding 200.
  * TestSessionsListIsNotCutAtTheLimit (internal/tui): 210 sessions, of which
    the ten past sessions.Limit are all in the list. Fails at 201.
  * TestSessionsMoreCountsTheWholeSet (root): the default --limit 20 over 212
    sessions says "192 more with --limit", and --limit 205 prints 205 rows.
    Fails saying 180 (counted off the truncated list).
  * sessions-paging.test.cjs (Chromium and WebKit, en and zh): 2600 sessions;
    the first page is 200 rows with "Show 200 more", the button appends to
    600 with the rows above left in place, a keystroke in Search draws a page
    in under 250 ms and starts the pages again, a search matching one session
    reads "1 session" and never the 2600 on the computer, and the note follows
    the list the filters kept (200 of 1111 after that search). Fails on
    origin/main (200 rows are not a page there) and with the pages taken out;
    counting every session again, or writing "1 sessions", fails it too.

Verified: go vet; go build (windows); go test ./internal/sessions
./internal/tui ./internal/gui . — only what origin/main fails (TestCursor,
TestGatewayFixQuitsOnlyAMagpie, TestPurposeAssetMatchesUsage,
TestUpdateThatWontStart, TestPluginListSaysMiddleware,
TestPluginOnOffRmShortName); node --check app.js and i18n.js; the browser
suites above plus sessions-overview, sessions-today, sessions-usage-open,
sessions-toolbar, sessions-calendar-fill, usage-sessions-agents-fit,
i18n-keys, usage-ledger and click-scroll.

sessions: Alma's chats are on the Sessions page, read only (mamba on Discord: magpie现在是不是还不能管理alma的会话呢) — Alma keeps every chat in one SQLite database in WAL mode, chat_threads.db in its data folder (~/Library/Application Support/alma on a Mac, $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/alma on Linux, %APPDATA%\alma on Windows): chat_threads (title, "New Chat" until named; model; workspace → its folder; incognito), chat_messages (AI SDK UIMessages in a tree, subagents' under parent_tool_call_id) and usage_records / aux_usage_records (a reply's tokens, cache reads and writes included in input). magpie now lists each chat that has something in it, incognito ones left out, and so are the chats Alma's scheduled tasks run in (thousands of them, which would bury every other agent's sessions), told the way Alma itself tells them: metadata.isCron, or a title starting "⏰ Cron:" (the title is set before the flag; 39 here have only the title): its title (else its first prompt), its folder, prompts and replies, tools and skills (tool-<Name>, dynamic-tool, Skill's skill), and models and tokens from the usage records (the model without Alma's provider id or plugin:<plugin>:<provider>:), priced like the others. It reads through a read-only connection, one read transaction a chat, and reads a chat again only when its own rows changed (updated_at, its messages' count, time and bytes, its usage rows), since the database's files change with every write to any chat. Alma's chats can't be deleted, moved or resumed from magpie: a chat is rows in Alma's live database, with triggers, a full-text index and other tables pointing at it, that only Alma can change safely, and Alma has no command to pick a chat up again; its data folder is in Dirs for discovery. Against a copy of the real database (6126 threads, 25424 messages, 11038 usage rows): 928 chats listed (3763 scheduled ones and the empty ones not), 18300 messages, all titled, every token total equal to the database's sums for those chats; the first listing takes 2.4 s, later ones 0.1 s. TestAlmaSessions (with a chat flagged isCron and one titled "⏰ Cron:" only, each failing without its rule), TestAlmaChatReadAgainWhenItChanges (a title and a usage row changed with no newer time) and TestAlmaModel fail without the change; tests set APPDATA so Windows never reads the real Alma. go vet, builds (darwin, GOOS=linux -tags nogui, GOOS=windows) and go test -tags nogui -count=1 ./... under a temp HOME pass. sessions: a session's conversation can be read in magpie, and a Pi session carried on in oh-my-pi (sxwedo, #845) — the Sessions page could resume a session only in the agent that wrote it, and showed nothing of what was said. A session's details now have Show conversation: magpie reads the agent's own session file (Claude Code, Qoder, Qoder CN, Codex, Pi, oh-my-pi; found by agent and id, never a path from the page; read only, no copy kept, 400 KB at most with "There was more than is shown here") and lists the user's words, the model's, each tool call by name and its result, thinking and summaries folded. For Pi and oh-my-pi it follows the branch the session is on (parentId from the last entry), not the turns left on an abandoned one. A Pi session also has Continue in, the app's menu (no <select>): oh-my-pi's omp --fork <file> in the session's folder, copied or opened in the session terminal (the server makes the command from the session it finds; the page sends agent, id, in), and the details say it. omp --fork loads the Pi file, migrates it and writes a new oh-my-pi session, leaving Pi's untouched; with the owner's Pi sessions copied into a sandbox HOME, oh-my-pi's own SessionManager forked them whole (4→5 and 46→47 messages, its system line added; text, thinking and tool calls kept) and the source files' sha256 didn't change. Only that pair is offered: Pi can't read an oh-my-pi file (it wants the session header first, oh-my-pi writes a title line first), oh-my-pi takes Claude Code and Codex only from its own import picker, not a given session, and the other agents' formats differ, so carrying them on would mean converting them, which isn't done. zh, ja, de strings. TestTranscriptClaude, TestTranscriptCodex, TestTranscriptPiBranch, TestTranscriptOmp, TestTranscriptUnsupported, TestTranscriptCut, TestCarryPiToOmp; sessions-talk.test.cjs (WebKit, en and zh) fails on the old code. sessions-*, click-scroll, gui-ja and gui-de pass on WebKit; session-terminal and session-identity fail the same on origin/main. go vet, builds (darwin, GOOS=linux nogui, GOOS=windows) and go test -tags nogui -count=1 ./... under a temp HOME pass.

sessions, gui: Codex sessions made with another provider are moved to Codex's own from the Sessions page, and back (#887, cjyrainbow) — Codex's history lists only the sessions of the provider it uses now, so sessions made through CC Switch (model_provider "custom") vanished from it once Codex used magpie, though their files were still there and the Sessions page listed them. The Codex tab now reads each session's provider from its session_meta (cached with the rest) and the one Codex in that session's home uses (config.toml's model_provider, or its profile's; "openai" when none), says how many were made with another and which, and tags each. "Move to <provider>…" opens magpie's own dialog listing them, each ticked; Move rewrites only the model_provider string in each session's files (.jsonl and .jsonl.zst, in its own Codex home, so WSL's too, mtime kept) and in Codex's state_*.sqlite threads row: messages, id, title and archive are left as they are. A copy of the files goes to magpie's trash folder (trash/codex-provider, with a move.json) first, a failed rewrite is put back from it, and a session written to in the last minute is left alone and said so. Undo moves each back to the provider it had, byte for byte. Nothing is moved by itself. POST /api/sessions/codex-provider; en/zh/ja/de. TestMoveCodexProvider (listing, bytes, mtime, the DB row and nothing else, backup, byte-identical undo, an active session, a bad id), TestMoveCodexProviderPacked and TestCodexProviderIn fail without the change, as does sessions-codex-provider.test.cjs (WebKit, en and zh: magpie's dialog, Cancel posts nothing, an unticked one stays, Undo, no click moves the page, no left border, translations); sessions-manage, -toolbar, -purge, -folder-delete, -wsl-delete and click-scroll pass. test: every package's tests pass on Windows, and none writes outside its sandbox (the user: 把 Windows 上那几个失败的测试修掉) — on a Windows box the suite failed in most packages, and the root package hung for 25 minutes. Tests set HOME, which os.UserHomeDir ignores on Windows (it reads USERPROFILE), so they read and wrote the runner's own home; each now sets USERPROFILE beside HOME, and Devin's, Goose's, Crush's and Claude Desktop's tests set APPDATA/LOCALAPPDATA, where those keep their files there. said() read the command's output only once it returned, and a pipe holds a few KB on Windows, so magpie model --help blocked forever; it reads while the command writes. Unix permission bits (the gateway key store's 0600 too), exec bits and symlinks Windows lacks are checked only off Windows; TOML strings hold Windows paths as literal strings, JSON as marshalled ones; a URL's path is compared as one. The provider and usage packages run in a home of their own (TestMain, as the gateway's already does), since a CLI's identity kept by a refresh still going when its test ended landed in the runner's ~/.config/magpie — and on a Mac in the user's own. Two product fixes came out of it: imagemcp took a file:///C:/… root or image for the path /C:/…, which doesn't exist on Windows, and now makes a Windows path of it (a host for a UNC share); and session discovery could keep a new Cowork session hidden on Linux, where a folder's mtime is a kernel tick and its size doesn't change, so an entry added within the tick of the last listing left both as they were — a listing made within 2s of its folder's last change is read again, as git does for racy files. TestFilePath and TestRacyDirectoryListedAgain fail without the change. On Windows 11 every package passes (32 of 32) and a run of each package in a fresh home leaves nothing in home, APPDATA or LOCALAPPDATA; on Linux (WSL) and macOS go test -tags nogui ./... passes. go vet, go build -tags nogui (darwin, GOOS=linux), GOOS=windows go build pass.

sessions: a Sessions page lists an agent's sessions by folder, to resume or delete, and deleted ones wait in magpie's trash to be restored (TJHHHH on Discord: session management like CC Switch's, deleting above all, in the GUI) — sessions were only seen on Usage, with no way to remove one. The new Sessions tab shows, per agent, every session under the folder it ran in, with its title or first prompt, when, how many messages and how big, a filter, its resume command to copy and, in the Mac app, Open in terminal. Picked sessions (or one, by its own button) are deleted after magpie's own dialog: their files (Claude Code's .jsonl, its subagents folder and what it keeps by the id under file-history, session-env and todos; every segment of a Codex rollout; Qoder's, WorkBuddy's, Pi's, oh-my-pi's) are moved into magpie's folder, trash/sessions/<agent>/<when>-<id>, with a manifest, never erased; Trash lists them and Restore puts them back where they were. A session written to in the last minute is left, and said so, as the agent may still be running it. Agents' own indexes (Codex's session_index.jsonl and state database, Claude Code's history.jsonl) are not edited: they are written while the agent runs, and a stale entry there is harmless. OpenCode, ZCode, dsh, Cline and Grok keep sessions in databases magpie doesn't write, and show no delete. With nine tabs the narrowest header gets a further step that draws the tabs in, and past that they scroll sideways rather than push the page wider (560px in English, or at 150% text). The dialog uses the shared confirmAsk/closeConfirmAsk, as the gateway keys' do. TestListAgent, TestDeleteRestoreClaude, TestDeleteRestoreCodex, TestDeleteActiveRefused (fails without the running check) and TestDeleteOnlyKnownAgents run in a temp HOME; sessions-manage.test.cjs (Chromium, WebKit, en, zh) fails without the change. go vet, go build -tags nogui (darwin, GOOS=linux), GOOS=windows go build, go test -tags nogui ./... pass; sessions-manage, click-scroll, old-webkit, text-size, session-terminal, sessions-today, brand, rail-tip, web-page, omarchy, model-test-one, gateway-caller-keys, gateway-connect-keys, api-key-usage, api-key-theme pass.

On Windows 11 every package passes (32 of 32) and a run of each package in a fresh home leaves nothing in home, APPDATA or LOCALAPPDATA; on Linux (WSL) and macOS go test -tags nogui ./... passes. go vet, go build -tags nogui (darwin, GOOS=linux), GOOS=windows go build pass.

sessions: a session's conversation can be read in magpie, and a Pi session carried on in oh-my-pi (sxwedo, #845) — the Sessions page could resume a session only in the agent that wrote it, and showed nothing of what was said. TestTranscriptClaude, TestTranscriptCodex, TestTranscriptPiBranch, TestTranscriptOmp, TestTranscriptUnsupported, TestTranscriptCut, TestCarryPiToOmp; sessions-talk.test.cjs (WebKit, en and zh) fails on the old code. sessions-*, click-scroll, gui-ja and gui-de pass on WebKit; session-terminal and session-identity fail the same on origin/main. go vet, builds (darwin, GOOS=linux nogui, GOOS=windows) and go test -tags nogui -count=1 ./... under a temp HOME pass.

wsl: background work never touches a WSL distro that has stopped since it was last seen running — it booted it again (TJHHHH on Discord: while they were repairing WSL, magpie kept starting it). Detection already listed only running distros, but the running set was kept for a minute (wslListAge), agents built while a distro ran kept its home and read its files from their Get/Sync/Check/Reached/Routed closures later, the sessions listing kept a distro's Running for 30s+ and read its \\wsl.localhost files, and wslrun.Find reused a tool it had found in a distro for a minute and ran wsl.exe -d on it. Any wsl.exe -d or \\wsl.localhost read boots a stopped distro, so a wsl --shutdown was undone within a minute, and the distro, running again, kept it going. Now wsl.exe -l --running -q (it starts nothing; UTF-16 with or without BOM, or UTF-8 under WSL_UTF8) is asked again after 3s, and a distro not in it is not touched: a WSL agent's Get gives the last values seen, Sync/Check/Reached do nothing and Routed/Joined/Beside/Added say no; sessions aren't listed or read from it (wslCold says cold); wslrun.Find (Claude subscription sign-in and usage) doesn't reuse or run a tool there; the Library gives skills to no target in it and its MCP probe says it isn't running. An explicit action still starts it: setting a WSL agent's field, a Set on a running agent, resuming a WSL session. TestWSLStoppedSinceNotOpened (agent, sessions), TestWSLStoppedSinceNoTarget (library) and TestFindStoppedSince (wslrun) fail without the change and pass; TestUp covers the -l --running parse. On the Windows box (10.0.0.132) a test binary that had seen magpie-fedora running ran Values/Check/Reached/wslDistros/wslAgents/sessions.List/wslrun.Find against it for 4 rounds while it was stopped: it stayed Stopped and wsl -l -v was unchanged; wslrun and agent WSL tests pass there. No distro was terminated for the check (magpie-desktop is in use, the stopped ones aren't ours). go test ./... (nogui), -race on the WSL tests, go vet, windows and linux (nogui) builds pass.

sessions: ZCode, DeepSeek Harness, Cline and Qoder's sessions are listed too (lml: 希望会话里也能看到 ZCode、Qoder CN、Cline、DeepSeek Harness 的) — ZCode's are OpenCode's tables in ~/.zcode/cli/db/db.sqlite, read as OpenCode's database is (opened read-only), its tokens the AI SDK's (input less the cache, output as it is), its model modelId, a title_source of default no title, a prompt typed a real_user's; dsh's are ~/.dsh/sessions ($DSH_HOME), a folder a session, the latest format's session[.vN].jsonl[.zstd] read whole, zstd frames and all, a subagent's (parentSession) in its parent's, a fork's seeded events (seedLength, or up to an inherited session/end-seed) counted where they were first written; Cline's are ~/.cline/data/sessions ($CLINE_SESSION_DATA_DIR, $CLINE_DATA_DIR, $CLINE_DIR), <id>.messages.json with its manifest <id>.json for the cwd, the prompt and the title, a subagent's other messages file beside it, a fork's messages before its forkedAt not counted, cline --id <id> to pick it up; Qoder's and Qoder CN's are Claude Code's lines in ~/.qoder/projects and ~/.qoder-cn/projects ($QODER_CONFIG_DIR, $QODERCN_CONFIG_DIR), qodercli --resume / qoderclicn --resume. Each folder is watched when it's there (Dirs). Tests keep HOME in their sandbox now. Tested with made-up fixtures for each (a ZCode database made in the test, dsh plain and zstd, forks of both formats, a Cline fork and subagent, both Qoder builds), and read-only against copies of this machine's ZCode database and dsh sessions: 2 and 13 sessions, their token totals the same as a separate tally of the raw rows
