WorkBuddy had skills only, and CodeBuddy Code had no library target at all,
so their MCP chips could not be switched on.
WorkBuddy 5.5.6 (app.asar) reads ConnectorService.customMcpConfigPath:
$WORKBUDDY_CONFIG_DIR, then $CODEBUDDY_CONFIG_DIR, then ~/.workbuddy, plus
mcp.json, as {"mcpServers": {...}} in Claude's shape. It connects a server
only once the user has switched it on in its MCP settings
(mcp-approvals.json, module.app-server.js). magpie doesn't write that
approval. Instead, the servers page tells the user to switch it on once,
in en/zh/zh-TW/ja/de.
CodeBuddy Code 2.162.0 (PathUtils.resolveMcpFilePath) reads the first of
<dir>/.mcp.json, <dir>/mcp.json and <base>/.codebuddy.json that exists.
<dir> is $CODEBUDDY_CONFIG_DIR or ~/.codebuddy. The file holds mcpServers
in Claude's shape, and ${NAME} is expanded (McpConfigEnvExpandService).
User scope needs no approval. Skills go in <dir>/skills.
Verified: the real CodeBuddy Code 2.162.0 CLI, in a sandbox HOME, read
SaveServer's file back with `mcp get` and `mcp list`. That covered stdio
with ${MY_TOKEN} expanded, http and sse, and the user's own entry and
disabledMcpServers were kept. WorkBuddy.app was not run; its side is
from its code.
Tests: TestAgentMCPFiles (4 new cases) and TestCodeBuddyMCPFile fail
without targets.go. library-workbuddy-trust fails without library.js.
Run: go test ./internal/library ./internal/gui; go vet for darwin, linux
and windows; in Chromium and WebKit: gui-ja, gui-de, gui-zh-tw, i18n-keys,
click-scroll and all library-* GUI tests.
